Returns

Books of Discovery Return & Credit Policy

All returns require prior approval. This can now be done completely online.

If you placed your order online (as a consumer or a wholesale customer) you can request a return by logging into your account and going to Orders. Select “Start A Return” from the order you wish to return items from and follow the steps from there.

If you are unable to log into an account or if the order was placed another way (such as over the phone) you can request a return here.

If you have a defective item or received the wrong items please contact customer service directly at info@booksofdiscovery.com.

Tracking My Orders

Website orders: Web orders are processed during our business days, Monday – Friday. We usually ship within 1-2 business days from our warehouse in Ann Arbor, Michigan via UPS Ground, unless you pay extra. An email, with a tracking number in it, will be sent to you once the web order is shipped.

If you order an eTextbook, check your junk folder if you have not received an email confirmation within an hour. Your code for your eTextbook will be included in that confirmation.

Wholesale orders: Orders are processed during our business days, Monday – Friday. We usually ship within 1-2 business days from our warehouse in Ann Arbor, Michigan via UPS Ground, unless you pay extra. We will email a shipping confirmation to the email address on your account who receives shipping confirmation emails.

Review/Desk Copies

Desk Copy Policy

At Books of Discovery, we are committed to supporting educators with the resources they need to teach effectively.

Verified instructors at programs may request desk copies for courses that require our title.

Verification requires a current syllabus or lesson plan.

We provide up to five complimentary print desk copies per title, per program, per calendar year for eligible instructors. This limit resets with the release of a new edition. After five print copies, additional verified instructors are eligible to receive an eBook version of the title.

How to Request Desk Copies

To obtain print desk copies, please complete our Desk Copy Request Form. This form is required for all print desk copy requests and ensures that each request is processed efficiently.

Digital Desk Copies

If you prefer digital versions, visit the Instructor Resources portal. There, you can download a Digital Desk Copy for each of your required titles. Simply log into the portal and locate the titles you need to access the downloadable digital copies.

If you encounter an error screen, try the following steps:
1. Clear your browser cache – This often resolves loading or display issues.
2. Enable third-party cookies – Some features may not work properly if these are blocked.
After completing these steps, refresh the page and try again.

Our AI Policy

Q: Is it okay to use AI with Books of Discovery resources? 

A. No. These materials are copyright-protected. Feeding protected content into AI systems effectively enables the theft of intellectual property, undermining the creators of vetted materials that students rely on for accuracy.  

PowerPoints

A: For PC users, CLICK HERE to view our tutorial. For MAC users, follow these instructions:

  • Go to the “Home” tab and click on the downward facing arrow within the “New Slide” icon.
  • At the bottom of the list, select “Insert Slides from Other Presentation.”
  • A new window will appear on the right-hand side. Navigate to thePowerPoint folder on your computer, and select your chapter.
  • Click on individual slides to highlight and insert or check the “Insert all” box.
  • Be sure to check the “Keep Design of Original Slides” box in the lower left-hand corner so that the images will appear.

A: Make sure your printer setting is set for “Color” and not “Grayscale”. Even if your printer is not a color printer the setting needs to be set to “Color” otherwise the images from the slides will not print.

A: Within most of the slides there is an area that will display “Text”. You may type any text you want in this area, however, you cannot change the text that is attached to the illustration itself. If you find you need more customization please consider the Image Library (if offered as part of your resources) as another option. The Image Library contains jpeg files of the illustration without any text or graphics.

ExamView Test Bank

As of June 2024, ExamView is no longer supported by its parent company Echo360. As a result, Books of Discovery test banks are only offered in PDF and Word doc files. If you previously used ExamView and have questions, please visit: Echo360

Textbooks

A: If you don’t already have a Books of Discovery account:
1. While at booksofdiscovery.com, click on “Register” at the top of the page.
2. Choose the Student Registration button.
3. Fill in the fields, and include the code found under the silver coating on the inside front cover of your textbook.

A: If you already have a Books of Discovery account:
1. While at booksofdiscovery.com, click on login. Enter your username or email address and password.
2. Under “Need Access to Resources for a Different Book?” choose “I am a Student.”
3. Fill in the fields, and include the code found under the silver coating on the inside front cover of your textbook.

**You know you’re logged in when it says “Logout” at the top of your screen.**

A: You’ll find the redemption code under the silver coating on the inside cover of your text book. Scratch the coating gently so as to not remove the code.

  1. Go to booksofdiscovery.com and log in.
  2. Click into My Account and then click Resources
  3. Under “Need access to resources for a different book?” choose “I am a student.”
  4. Fill in the fields, including the code under the silver coating in your textbook or the resource access code found in your eTextbook.

A: When you register for the online student resources with your hard copy textbook, you will receive a special offer in your registration confirmation email to purchase a 2-year eTextbook subscription for that specific text for $10.

To use this coupon you must:

  • Be logged in
  • Have successfully registered for your textbook’s online student resources
  • Use the link provided in your registration confirmation email

If you do not meet these requirements, you will be told the 2-year eTextbook subscription product is restricted and will be prompted to login. *This offer is not currently available for the Business Mastery textbook

eTextbooks

A: After you complete the checkout on our website, you will receive a confirmation email with your eTextbook code. If you do not receive an email, please check you spam folder. If you still need assistance locating your code, please email info@booksofdiscovery.com to request the redemption code. Please include your Order ID number and order date.

A: The first step is to create a user account with VitalSource. You can create an account here: https://online.vitalsource.com/user/new. Once you are logged in to vitalsource.com you redeem your code under the “My Account” tab in the upper right. You may access your eBook on this website anywhere you have Internet access.

A: In order to receive your student resource access code, you need to log into your VitalSource account in a web browser, NOT in the VitalSource Bookshelf app. Once you redeem your eTextbook code on VitalSource.com and open your book, you will see a popup box that says, “Includes Access Code.” Follow the instructions. Again, you will not get the popup if you’re in the VitalSouce Bookshelf App. Always redeem your eTextbook code on the VitalSource website first and then access the Bookshelf app after it has synced. 

If you miss or close the popup, you can always find your access codes by logging into VitalSource.com in a web browser and go to My Account/Resources/Access Codes. 

A: Please visit the VitalSource Download Page and select the appropriate download for your computer or tablet device. We do not recommend reading our eTextbooks on smartphones because of the detail in our many illustrations. A larger screen will give you the optimal experience.
